Variety is the spice of life!

Dear fellow English teachers anywhere in this Wonderful Wide World

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE! – This phrase was coined by William Cowper, in his poem The Task (1785): “Variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor”. A phrase that´s still used today and which basically means “diversity makes life interesting”. As a matter of fact, you can find entries for this phrase in many dictionaries if you look it up.

By the way, are you familiar with the online English dictionary ONELOOK? In case you haven´t heard of it yet, it´s an amazing tool that helps you find the meaning of words & expressions in several well-known dictionaries in seconds for free, by simply typing the word or expression once. As an ELT author I have been using it for quite a long time as it is really helpful. I feel like this is a good opportunity for me to thank the people who put it together and continue making it such a valuable resource!
