Dialogue Script – Picking up a coworker at the airport

Will: So, Barry’s flight is supposed to get in at 7:30, right?
Melanie: He said so. I just hope there’s no delay.
Will: OK, what’s the flight number again?
Melanie: I guess it’s 5301, wait, let me see. Yeah, that’s it.
Will: All right, I’ll go check with the attendant at the counter over here.
Will: Hi, can you tell me if flight 5301 has landed yet?
Attendant: Just a minute sir. (sound of computer…)  I’m afraid it’s running late. There’s a thirty-minute delay actually.
Will: A thirty-minute delay? How come this is not being informed on the monitors at all?
Attendant: We’re updating the information just now sir. It should be on the monitors any minute.
Will: OK, thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
Attendant: You’re welcome sir.

Sound of Will walking back to Melanie…

Melanie: So, what’s up? By the look on your face we’ll have to wait some more, right?
Will: Well, she said there’s a thirty-minute delay. That gives us at least half an hour to kill. Let’s have some coffee or something.
Melanie: Good idea. I haven’t had any breakfast yet.
Will: OK, how about that café over there?
Melanie: Looks cozy! Let’s go.

At the café…

Waitress: Hi, what can I get you guys?
Melanie: Uhm… Let me see… I think I’ll have scrambled eggs and a bagel with cream cheese… and orange juice, please.
Waitress: And how about you sir?
Will: Just plain coffee and a croissant for me please.
Waitress: Very good! I’ll be right back.
Melanie: Thank you!
Will: So, how’s our new customer coming along?
Melanie: So far so good. The orders have been increasing gradually over the past three months.
Will: That’s what I heard.

Some minutes later…

Will: There he is. Hey Barry!
Barry: Hi guys! Am I glad to see you! Thanks for coming all the way to the airport to pick me up!
Will: You’re the big boss now, right? I guess you deserve it.
Barry: Oh, come on, cut it out!
Melanie: And how was the flight?
Barry: A little bumpy, but okay. So, what have you guys been up to?
Will: I guess a lot of things, really. Let’s go. We’ll talk on the way to the company.
